Something that hasn't caught enough attention is the fact that Michael Jordan is about to own a majority stake in the Bobcats. Now I don't want to talk about IF Jordan will be a failure or a success, only time will tell, but I wonder why there aren't more retired NBA players that own basketball teams. Did they not make enough during their career? Can they not pull together like 20 retired players and put up half a billion to own a team? Being a part of the league for so long, you would think the players know the ins and outs and can provide a players perspective when it comes to ownership, which can, in turn, lead to major success. But the only success we have seen is ex NBA players being horrible employees (ex. Larry Bird running the Indiana Pacers into the ground one game at a time). If these players actually took a major stake in a team (like Jordan is doing) maybe that passion and dedication that they had for their own careers will translate into running a successful team.
True the Bobcats are airy, but so are the Knicks and everyone is still excited about their future. MJ has some pull, I wouldn't be surprised if he brought in a big name free agent. And it really isn't up to just MJ to make decisions about the team, it takes a whole staff to do that. So I hope MJ gets the right people around him because he is going to have a tough mountain to climb.
MJ, the University of Cincinnati does take college credit for internships. You know where to find me, lets get it.
